Full Description
This fine quality Japanese, Meiji period (1868-1912) bronze group captures a dynamic scene of a woodsman guiding a water buffalo laden with firewood. Measuring 68 cm wide and 40 cm high, the intricately detailed figures showcase the craftsmanship of the era, highlighting the strength and cooperation between man and beast. The woodsman, depicted with a determined expression, pulls the buffalo along a textured base that mimics natural elements, while the buffalo’s muscular form adds a sense of movement. The sculpture is elegantly mounted on a root-carved base, further enhancing its rustic charm and connection to nature.
