Full Description

A striking Japanese Meiji-period bronze study depicting two tigers in dynamic pursuit, their muscular bodies stretched forward in powerful movement. The larger animal leads with jaws bared, finely modelled facial features, expressive eyes, individually defined claws and carefully incised fur. A second tiger follows closely behind, echoing the composition while adding depth and dramatic tension. Both figures possess dark brown-black patination with subtle highlights accentuating their anatomy and distinctive striping. They are mounted on a richly carved rootwood base, decorated with scrolling foliage and floral motifs, providing an organic contrast to the polished bronze. The impressive composition measures approximately 64cm wide.
