A exquisite, fine quality Meiji period (1868-1912) Japanese black lacquer cabinet on stand with wonderful scrolling gilded decoration. Having a pair of inset panel doors depicting scholars and priest by the the lake side making their offerings to the gods, two large drawers with finely carved and lacquer flowers and exotic plants in relief. Raised on a stand with two further smaller drawers, carved cabriole legs with classical gilded motif decoration. The doors opening to reveal a beautiful red metallic lacquered bank of drawers with musical symbols, Classical Japanese object and furniture.
