A spectacular pair of late 19th Century Japanese Meiji period  (1868-1912) Satsuma lidded vases. Each with wonderful Foo Dog finials to the lids, classical orange and gilded motif decoration with inset hand painted panels depicting, families, courtiers and tradesman, raised tassel handles to either side, traditional boarders to the base and stands. 
Mounted on ebonies carved wood stands with elephant head supports.
Vases measure;138cm high
Stands;60cm high x 48cm diameter.
